WEDDING
Ewart-Hollands
The marriage of William, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. (William John & Annie) Ewart, of Byron Bay, and Dorothy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. (Alfred & Mary) Hollands, of Ewingsdale, took place in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Byron Bay, on April 14. Rev. Father Scott officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, entered the church beautifully frocked with white angel skin georgette, cut on classical lines. The long train was cut in one, with the skirt, an embroidered tulle veil fell from a tiny lace cap edged with orange blossoms to the full length of the train. A long sheaf bouquet of frangipanni (frangipani) and tiny pink roses was carried by the bride. The tiny train-bearers, were Elaine Jensen and Haldane Hankin. Elaine was a dainty figure in a pink mariette frock frilled to the toes, and tiny puff sleeves covered with frills. Her manly little partner wore a tailored suit of white satin. The bridesmaids were Miss Olive Hollands and Miss Marjorie Ewart. Their frocks of pink mariette were cut on fitting lines, featuring graduated tucks from waist to hem. The short capes matched the fully flared skirts with their widening folds. Flower caps with tulle veils lent a dainty touch to the lovely picture. Bouquets of pink, dahlias and fern were carried by the bridesmaids. Mr. B. (Bernard) Hollands acted as best man, and Mr. A. Pallier (Alan Pellet) as groomsman. Miss Mary Kean, presided at the organ and during the signing of the register. Mr. D. Wotherspoon (Lismore) sang "Because." The reception, was held at Miss Ward's Cafe, where the long tables were attractively decorated. with dahlias. The three-tiered wedding eake made an attractive centre piece. On a separate table was a glittering array of the many beautiful gifts of the guests, who were received at the function by the bride's mother (Mary Hollands), wearing a frock of navy blue georgette and carrying a posy of carnations. . She was assisted by Mrs. W. J. (Annie) Ewart, who wore a frock of black orlanette, relieved with white, and carried a. posy of carnations. . , . The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a. dressing gown, and the groom's gift to the bride a morocco handbag. The bridesmaids each received from the groom a cut crystal powder bowl while the train-bearers received a gold armlet and a tricycle respectively. The bride travelled in a frock and three-quarter length coat of brown orlanette, with tiny brown hat to tone. The. honeymoon is being spent in Sydney and Brisbane. A big assemblage of friends fare-welled the couple from the Byron Bay jetty, and a pretty sight was presented as the bride held the many colored streamers.
